The Baldur's Gate 3 Creators Announce a Latest Divinity, Calling it Their Largest RPG Yet

The anticipation about The Game Awards was significant, particularly after presenter Geoff Keighley posted a mysterious photo of a strange statue. The mystery has now been solved. The acclaimed developer is creating a completely new Divinity game.

Titled simply Divinity, the game was showcased with a audacious trailer packed with striking imagery, from a figure engulfed in flames to an orgy and the very opening of infernal gates.

Not the Expected Sequel

Anyone expecting Divinity Original Sin 3, this is not that. The studio stated ahead of time that a third Original Sin game to its beloved RPGs is not being worked on now.

However, the developer described this new Divinity as a evolution of the main series. This choice of words hints that the team is likely building a more action-oriented experience as opposed to another turn-based title. At this moment, this is speculation, as only a cinematic trailer is available.

What Makes Divinity Special

The Divinity series is universally respected and arguably it kicked off the modern wave of complex computer role-playing games. These games are defined by rich lore, branching plots, and flexible progression—elements that recently reached new heights in games like Baldur's Gate 3.

While its world is classic fantasy, what truly sets Divinity apart is the immense freedom given to the player.

While numerous modern RPGs have pared back options, Divinity is brimming with niche playthroughs you can achieve by choosing a particular class or origin with a personal story.

The series is also wonderfully open-ended, letting players to find creative solutions throughout the entire experience. Most missions can be solved in diverse methods, frequently in lateral fashion.

  • You might progress the story because you recalled something an animal companion shared.
  • Or, you could defeat a foe by moving environmental hazards in a inventive way.

More to Come

It is this design philosophy that have cemented the series to declare games like Divinity Original Sin 2 as one of the best role-playing games of all time. Now, the RPG community can get ready for a new entry in this legendary franchise.
