19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized the Russian player won his first title for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a former number one, has experienced a torrid season, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually separating with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents his maiden title after the Italian tournament and first on a hard court from March of that year.

Victory also indicates the Russian has won 21 titles at twenty-one various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my both daughters together, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I got when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six finals, including in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive play style and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had caused observers to question if his ability to play at the elite level was finished.

However the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and compete positively, reinforced by an better serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, winning four of the last five games to take the lead.

The pair swapped breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to create a decider.

He rescued four early chances in a competitive deciding set before the champion secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, he secured the title with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
