Automobiles in Germany's City Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police State

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Authorities stated they were alerted by a man who discovered a car in Hanau marked with reddish fluid

Around fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.

Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a statement.

Officers report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.

The substance had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Officers then found multiple other marked automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police report initial examinations suggest the fluid was most likely blood from a person.

"There is still no lead as to its origin; officials are not yet aware of any harm in relation with the event," they added.

Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to solve the case" and have appealed to the residents for tips.

A high-ranking official commented the incident made him without words and had to be resolved promptly.

"This act affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right attack five years ago," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine people by a assailant targeting people of immigrant origin in 2020.
